Why We’re Degendering Our Garments
Clothes don’t have gender. Unless you speak French, in which case everything does—for reasons no one can quite explain.
At Crystal Shot Designs, we’ve been thinking about this for a while. Not as a trend, not as a marketing angle, but as a quiet frustration. Why label something “men’s” or “women’s” when the design itself is about balance, symbolism, or resistance?
“We’re not here to erase gender. We’re here to remove it from the product filter.”
The Shift
We’re degendering our garments. Not because it’s easy—but because it makes sense. Especially for designs like:
- View all products in the Equality design series – designed to include, not divide. Bold, symbolic, and ritual-ready.
- View all products in the Rainbow on the Inside design series – unapologetically expressive and beyond binaries.
- View all products in the Iconoclasts design series – designed to challenge norms and dress with defiance.
Fit Without Filters
We chose Pullover Hoodies—not fluid fit—because zip hoodies are coming. These garments are cloaks for some, armour for others. They’re not designed to fit a gender. They’re designed to fit a feeling.
Welcome, But Not Generic
Not every design will speak to everyone. That’s okay. But we hope there’s something for everyone who’s a little outside the mainstream. Everyone who dresses with intent. Everyone who’s tired of being told what their clothes say about them.
A Personal Note
I’m male. I identify as male. I don’t think about my gender much. I’ve never feared walking home at night because of how I’m perceived. That’s privilege—white, heterosexual, male privilege. I can’t change those traits. But I can change how my brand shows up in the world.

Expression without labels.
